Winnifred Jong is an award winning Toronto-based filmmaker. Known for her cinematic style and authentic storytelling, Winnifred is adept at directing drama, comedy and action. She created and directed the comedic short form series, TOKENS, nominated for 8 Canadian Screen Awards (winning Best Direction 2020/2023, and Best Supporting Performance 2023) and was recognized with the 2020 ACTRA Sandi Ross Award and the 2023 Reelworld Trailblazer Award.
Her work can be seen on Netflix, Apple+, Hulu, Max, CW, Freevee, CBC, Global, CityTV, and OWN including the recent My Life with the Walter Boys, Wild Cards, Pretty Hard Cases, and the upcoming Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent. Her producing director credits include WBTV's Kings of Napa.
She was twice selected for the Banff-Netflix Diversity of Voices, was in the inaugural cohort of Banff Spark Accelerator for Women in the Business of Media and was part of the prestigious Women In the Director’s Chair Program.
Winnifred may have once snuck into the Cannes Film Festival through a side door, but she's determined to return by way of the Palais steps.
